week twenty-three

MY GREATEST PROJECT YET!!! 9ish months in the making......
Sebastian Grey. What a blessing! And yes, even though I just gave birth, I was still making things.. go me! hahaha.. accually there was a lot of "down time" while the boys were sleeping and in between feedings. I was too bored to sleep. bored? with a new born and 2 year old?? yes. no. well, kinda. Our 2 year old plays by himself a lot and when he's sleeping I have "free time".

The project that I worked on this week is a board of the "be attitudes" I got my inspiration from I am momma hear me roar -a fellow blogger. Her blog is AWESOME [way better than mine!!] go and check it out! http://iammommahearmeroar.blogspot.com/2010/03/be-sign.html

Again, her version of this is WAY better than mine, but I think mine will do :) It now has a home on our piano as aprt of our apartment remodel/makeover :) more to come !!

Leg Warmers!
One of my sisters needed to get her hands on some legwarmers for a dance- 80's workout themed... she was attending this week. Since they are a little hard to find.. and I had nothing to do [hahahhaa] this week, I offered to make some for her. Our baby is due any day so the thrill of 'besting the clock' kept my mind off counting the days and hours till D-day. It just so happens that our son was born 25 sept.... the day I was supposed to post this entry. He and his brother are my greatest creations yet!

[sister is a slacker and hasn't gotten me pics yet... pics to come soon!]

The Shed-
We really needed a place to put the items that we use often but don't have space for them in the house. So Cameron, my handy and most fabulous hubby drew out what I wanted and built it for me.. I was allowed to help a little, so i am counting this as a project of mine ... :) I wasn't, however, allowed to use the saw etc since I'm almost ready to go into labor and the belly just gets in the way! after it was filled with our tubs of camping stuff, BBQ equipment and gardening supplies, I tacked on a piece of upholstery fabric as a wind/dirt/sun/ rain shield. So far, through the rain and all it has fared well!! I'm so glad our things aren't just piled up on the side of the house anymore!!

week twenty

D day is coming up very fast and I still don't have a birthing skirt. Purchasing them online or in a store is pretty expensive esp since I wont wear it any other time than labor and birth of my child. Being a crafty type, I'll be making my own. There are not very many [or very good] instructions online on how to do one, so I'm pretty much winging it. The mock-up will be made out of light weight upholstery fabric, because I have a ton of it laying around the house. For the actual one, I might go and buy fabric but who knows.

What is a birthing skirt, you ask? It's a skirt you wear while birthing your baby- whether you are birthing in the hospital, birthing center or at home. It helps make you feel feminine and gives coverage. I can't stand the gowns that they make you wear at the hospital, I'm not a sick person, why do I have to wear the sick person gown? Anyhow, I'm birthing using the Hypnobirthing method in a big jacuzzi tub at Best Start Birth Center and I want to make sure I am stylish :) Comfort and style.... and a healthy baby boy...

SOCK MONKEY!!!!!!! I absolutely love vintage things and have been wanting to make a sock monkey foreeevvver... so a friend of mine helped me figure out the pattern [which I still modified] and this is what I came up with. It's my first one, and I think it turned out pretty decent. It is a Christmas gift for my son so I need to hide it now. But he saw it this am before I could hide it and he just loves it! That is all that matters, right?
[and yes, I haven't put on the eyes yet.... ]

More photography. maybe these aren't the best pictures in the world but I loved the lighting and of course I love the subjects. Cameron has been wanting to have Xander swim better, so we've been swimming every day since we saw a couple of little kids [toddler] swimming by them self and doing such a great job.
Xander is doing such an amazing job! I think he might be a fish :) Here are a few pics from a day at the pool.

week seventeen

I had a tough decision for this week... post pictures from the World Famous San Diego Zoo [to which we have passes and go each week..] and this week I got some killer photos.. or to post food.???

My stomach won this week. I made a quiche this week for our Hypnobirthing Class' last session brunch. I might say that this was the very first time I made a quiche and OH MY GOSH!!

LOVE IT! I mean, I love eating quiche but never had ventured to make one. So this week Paula Dean was my best friend. I used her Spinach and Bacon Quiche recipe and tweaked it to be my own [as usual] and it was a smash hit! I had to make sure I saved a little for my mom to have some - since she was nice enough to babysit for weeks while we took our birthing classes. This is one I will definitely make again. yum!
