week five

grass. ahh to have that wonderful lush green lawn! we've been living in this home for about a year and a half and have been working on de-cluttering our lives. this has been a process that has been going on for years.. and i don't know if it will ever end! i am hopeful that it will continue to get better as the months and years progress. we [meaning mostly me, as i am the one that seems to be a pack-rat.. thank you gran!] have already gotten rid of a TON of useless stuff. what does this have to do with grass you ask? it is simple... we moved into this duplex and the "lawn" was lumpy dirt with weeds, children's toys, dog bones and trash. add to that our boxes and stuff that doesn't fit in the house and you have a regular white-trash yard. ick! with a 2 year old it is difficult [to say the least] to get anything done [and stay done]. so projects are done in large spurts and we are so tired afterwards that the thought of facing the next 'spurt' is even more exhausting!

after a few times of de-weeding the yard throughout the past year and a half, we prepped the area with all organics and spread the seed. cameron did most of the heavy work with the 'assistance' of the 2 yr old. water 3x daily and we should see grass! our plan is to have a lush beautiful lawn by the 4th of july. lets see how that turns out!

week three

this week we have been focusing on our garden. it's been a labor intensive project that will take a while to complete, but at least the seeds are sown and plants are growing :) our camera is broken, so i can't take pictures of the project. by the time we get a new camera, the plants might just be too big to say 'i just planted' them.

week one

this week i was working on a bulletin board for my women's group at church. nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. after many many many hours of work i finished it yesterday! we only get 1/2 of the board, so i couldn't do much with the other side....
here it is before:

and after:

i also got an itch to sew myself a dress yesterday [saturday] for church today. since i started to show [i'm about 5 mths pregnant] a lot of my clothes don't fit and i love wearing something new. i got a few things together [mostly from my stash at home] and this is what i came up with... something comfee and airy :) I even ended up making a few flowers for my hair [for those who know me, i almost always have a decoration in my hair!]

post one

i've been wanting to have a blog just for my art and crafts, but have been too worried about what i'd call it, what would i post.. who would even read it.... my art and crafts aren't good enough to post or share. well i decided that what i do is for my family and friends who love my work and appreciate my efforts. besides, i love to create. it's in my blood- i just can't shake it. everywhere i go my brain can't stop thinking of ideas of 'whats next'. i love to draw, paint, take photos, sew, crochet, metalsmith [jewelry], garden and cook. i often think ''i can make that '' or ''this doesn't fit my body right- i'll make my own'' . it's also hard for me to find the 'perfect' decoration for my home, making it is easier.
i love to capture moments in our lives. my family makes me happy and safe. one of my favorite animals of my beloved ocean is the octopus. it is extremely intelligent and so beautiful. sometimes i feel like i need 8 arms to get done what i need / want. i'm pretty sure that if i did have that many arms, i'd surely get them tangled with one another with all the projects i want to be working on.
i am continually inspired by so many people around me. i hope to inspire others to just go for it! you don't have to be perfect at something to go ahead and do it. happy crafting!
