week fourteen

I'm slightly obsessed with "Hell's Kitchen" and have been DYING to make risotto and beef wellington. Well, the beef wellington was going to take way to long to prep and cook, so I opted for a great cut of meat and the risotto. I made it with gourmet mushroom blend and lots of parmigiano reggiano cheese. The picture didn't turn out as I wanted, but you get the idea. I also sauteed jumbo shrimp for more yummy goodness :)

It was my first attempt at risotto and I think it turned out pretty well. I will definitely be making this again.. and soon!!!

week thirteen

being pregnant has its ups and downs.. one down being i seem to have nothing to wear! [more than usual!] and maternity clothes are just so darn expensive! last time i was pregnant it was winter so i can't even reuse all the things i purchased last time. while looking on the web i was inspired by isabella oliver and her maternity line and decided to create my own. i created a wrap shirt out of t-shirt material. it is not as luxurious or beautiful as what is on her website, but it will carry my through the summer, and i might even splurge on a top from her website.. just because i should :)

week twelve

boxes! boxes! calling all boxes!

i've been desperately needing a way to store things on my 'create-a-cube' shelves... no boxes from the store work out the way i want them to, and they are so expensive. so in the fashion and spirit of diy... i made my own. since i receive boxes via ups on a monthly [or more] basis for my business i decided to reuse and recycle the ones that were the tallest. i cut off a portion of the box and reattached the end.... they make the perfect size for my shelves! i also started to decorate them- but had to postpone some of the decorating until i get more black card stock. until then, they will work just great!

this week i was crazy about making hats :) so i made a few. i think i'll be wearing hats more often- which isn't a new thing for me.. i just needed a larger variety to wear! the hats below are mini sized and are worn towards the front of the head, tipped.

week ten

since i am having another boy [yeah!] i get my girlie fix through friends and family :) it seems like everyone else around me is having girls, so i get a chance to make cute little dresses and such as presents. i get to create but not keep which, to me, is a fair deal! here is what i made this week:
i just LOVE vintage items and i have a ton of patterns that are 'old'. i pulled out this very cute shirt and bloomers pattern from my collection and got sewing. at first it was to make a present for a friend who just had her baby.. then it turned into 2 presents.... which then turned into "hey! i could make a bunch of these from material i neeeeeed to get rid of [i practically have my own store!] and sell them in my etsy shop. the two featured in the blog are the ones i completed this week. i did, however, change the bloomers into shorts because i didn't want to deal with leg elastic. i hand drew [and cut out] the cherries to ass an accent. :) enjoy!
